The child should not travel alone, and s/he should always accompany the minor for which the check-in process has to be followed religiously. And as the part of the process, the child has to be picked up from destination point by the Airline representative.

The Day of Flight for the Minor

Parents or guardians who are not accompanying the minor should guide him/her to speak to Delta Airlines staff in case of any requirement. When the adult (Parent/Guardian) arrives with the minor at the departure airport terminal, then S/he head for Delta Airport Customer Service Agent and quickly gather the information with respect to the drop-off and pick-up with respect to the travel of the unaccompanied minor. No sooner the adult and the minor reaches the departure airport terminal, a wrist band is handed over to the accompanied adult by the Delta Airport Customer Service Agent. The wristband should be worn by the child when s/he boards the flight.  There will also be boarding documents and the ID carried by the child onboard.  

What should be shown by the Accompanying Adult at Check-in Counter?

  • Photo ID (license, passport, etc.)
  • Address (as shown on ID)
  • Contact phone number
  • Name, address and phone number of the adult who intends to meet the unaccompanied minor at the destination airport.

Note for Unaccompanied Minor Boarding, Takeoff 

  • It is the responsibility of accompanying adult to remain at the departure gate until the flight has not been air borne;
  • In case the minor in question is reaching the airport via another city, then s/he will be assisted by either Delta or the respective Business Partner Employee, as the case maybe;
  • The unaccompanied minor should be seated on the rear for being accessible to the flight attendant. This is desired for the personal safety of the child.

Note for Unaccompanied Minor Pick-up

  • If someone else is receiving the child on the destination airport, other than the person whose name originally appeared, then Delta Airlines representative shall connect to the original person to cross verify the identity of the person who has come to receive the child; 
  • The person who has come to the destination airport to pick up the unaccompanied minor shall be issued a gate pass. On some airports, the pickup person shall be guided to Delta Baggage Service Office to receive the designated child.
